We provide rental access to modern and vintage guitars, vintage guitar amps, amplifier heads and effects for recording and stage use. If you’re looking for a particular tone, chances are we can deliver. We are performing musicians ourselves and understand what quality tone from a guitar amp can do for a performance. No one wants mediocre tone from guitar amp! Most of our guitars and guitar amps are part of a growing personal collection sought out and collected over many years. This guitar amplifier gear needs to be heard! We can make guitar amp and guitar effect recommendations through personal experience with this collection. It brings us great satisfaction when the right combination of amp and guitar brings out the best possible performance.

California Guitar and Amp Rentals was established to offer high quality guitar amplifiers, effects and guitars for use in studio and live settings at an affordable cost. Clients are welcome to visit our convenient Orange County location in Orange County California, on Newport Blvd. Costa Mesa, to sound check the guitars and guitar amplifier equipment.

Here's a Short List of some of our Favorite Vintage Guitar Amps:

We offer a nice selection of Marshall Amplifiers, including a ’72 Marshall Super Lead 100-watt head. It produces stupendous tone by Doug Roccaforte. You'll get beautiful clean to huge beefy tone via your guitar volume knob. Our ’78 Marshall JMP 50-watt head pumps out great classic tones. You will have fun when you push it with one of our vintage tube screamers! Plus, our ‘80’s JCM800 2302 100-watt head, not a reissue, is a very powerful EL-34 based unit. Our Marshall Artist 4302 30-watt 1x12 combo includes a 2-channel hybrid high-gain amp.

No vintage guitar amp collection is complete without Fender. We have a Fender ’67 Twin Reverb with JBL K120’s. It's one of the sweetest, warmest amps you’ll hear. Once you plug in, just try to stop playing. And wait till you hear our Blackface Super Reverb, which was just tuned up by Matt at Futara. It produces lush reverb, ready to record. Believe it or not, we have a Fender Super 60 combo, the red knobbed Rivera version. Plus, we offer a Fender Tonemaster 100-watt head, which provides beautiful cleans to boogie-type overdrive and everything in between.

We are proud to offer Soldano Guitar Amplifiers, including the Super Lead Overdrive 100-watt head. It has high-gain fresh tubes and a very clean sound. Our Soldano Atomic 16 EL-84 based head can be super loud with beautiful tone with total control right from your guitar volume knob.

We feature Univox and VHT Amplifiers, including the VHT Pittbull CLX flagship 100-watt 3-channel head. It produces very thick overdrive and it is in perfect shape. You will also find a nice collection of low-wattage combos like the Univox U-45B (check out Harmony-Central reviews!)

In our Vox Guitar Amp and Matchless collection, you will see our Vox AC-30, which is British made with blue Celestions and is set up by Doug Roccaforte for perfection with new JJ EL-84 tubes. Our Matchless DC-30 combo has fresh tubes and it is one of the original versions with very lush, chimey sound. You will not need 4x12 cab and it has loops and ½ power switch. The KIND.

Our Jim Kelley collection of Jim Kelley Guitar Amps would make Jim Kelley proud too. We offer the Jim Kelley 1x12 combo 6v6-based hand-built boutique amp from the ‘80s. It's a single channel with reverb and 30/60 watt switch, like hot-rodded Deluxe. Plus, we have a Jim Kelley FACS dual channel combo amp with reverb and effect loop. It produces beautiful cleans to ZZ Top grind. This amp is hand built to military specs.

We also like to mention here some of our Hiwatt, Laney and Ampeg guitar amplifiers. Our Hiwatt DR-103 100-watt head has old 4-input style with stock master volume. This Hiwatt is very powerful, produces very sweet sound and one of our prized favorite. We have the Laney 30, 50 and 100-watt all-tube heads and combos. All of our Laney amps have been serviced for optimum performance with great blues to metal tones with an OD pedal.

Our killer collection of guitar amps includes the aggressive Ampeg VL-series, which are Lee Jackson-designed heads and combos. No pedal required is required with the Ampeg VL and you will get the instant signature ‘80s OD tones. We also have an Ampeg SVT-2 rack-mount 300-watt tube bass head. It's NOT the Pro, but the original version in a case with the legendary DBX 160-A compressor for your rental use. The amp has a fresh set of Svetlana winged- C 6550 tubes that produce an unbeatable sound!

Rounding out a favorites are a couple of guitar amps from Orange Amplifiers and Roccaforte Amplifiers. Our ‘70s Orange OR-120 tube head maintained by Doug Roccaforte for optimum vintage Orange tones is very powerful. And lastly, our Roccaforte Danelle 45-watt, EL-34 based head is hand built with total control from the guitar volume knob. This vintage amp sounds unbelievable live or in the studio and it is built like a tank!
